hanen parent training?
The Hanen programs are family centered classes that are taught by Hanen Certified Speech Language Pathologists. These are taught in a small group setting through the use of activities and group discussions to enhance the communication between parents and their children.

WE OFFER IT TAKES TWO TO TALK AND MORE THAN WORDS
The Hanen center’s family-focused programs for parents are led by Hanen Certified speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who have received specialized training at a Hanen Workshop. At Bright Start Therapies, we offer two different Hanen courses for our families,
“IT TAKES TWO TO TALK” and “MORE THAN WORDS”.
All Hanen Programs® use a combination of group training sessions (where only parents and the SLP are present) and individual consultations with the SLP (in which the child is present). This provides a comprehensive and personalized learning experience for each family participating in the program. For parents whose child is experiencing a communication difficulty, Hanen’s specialized programs can provide them with the tools they need for helping their child reach his or her fullest communication potential.
IT TAKES TWO TO TALK
The Hanen It Takes Two to Talk® program is a evidence based, family focused program designed to empower parents and provide invaluable skills they can use to improve communication between them and their child. Parents attend small group training sessions taught by a Hanen certified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). This fast paced dynamic class setting that is both fun and engaging! These sessions provide a highly comprehensive and personalized learning experience for each family participating in the program. Did I mention the classes are fun? They also provide a peer social group for families with similar communication struggles with their child. Through the use of group participation activities and discussions, parents learn to how to create and take advantage of everyday opportunities in to improve their child’s communication skills in their daily routines.
MORE THAN WORDS
The More Than Words® is a evidence-based, family-focused program that provides parents with skills and techniques to improve the communication needs of young children with Autism (ASD) or social communication difficulties. It is led by a Hanen Certified speech language pathologist (SLP) who has received specialized training at a Hanen More Than Words certification workshop. This fast paced, informative program combines group activities and instruction with peer discussions to improve early social communication skills. More Than Words addresses the needs of both non-verbal and verbal children with ASD. You’ll learn a naturalistic, family-centered approach that empowers parents to support their child’s communication during everyday interactions.
